Optimal Productivity. Minimal Effort.
Productivity. Ask ten people to define ‘productivity’ and you will get ten different answers, such as:
- The state or quality of being productive;
- The effectiveness of productive effort; or
- The relationship between results and the time it takes to accomplish them.
Confused already?
Simplified, productivity is getting the right things done with as little effort as possible.
The right thing could be to go for a walk. Or take a nap. Or prepare for your speech. Or launch a new product. Or run the Comrades. Or lead a team meeting.
What we do depends on what kind of person we want to be.
Do you want to be a successful leader? Then do the right things for that.
A great grandfather? Then do the right things for that.
A caring mother? A learner? To be patient? Curious? Content? Active? Productive?
Then do the right things for that.
Epictetus captures it beautifully, “First, say to yourself what you would be; then do what you have to do.”
Let’s say you want to be productive.
Then you must figure out what to do (your right things), and get those things done with minimal effort.
I have an invitation for you: Join me as we travel along eight ways to productivity mastery.
We won’t rush things. If you want to become productive, you can read my thoughts over the next eight months. And, if you want to, do the one or two things I suggest.
In eight articles I will share productivity principles I have uncovered over the past 28 years that have stood the test of time. Just like gravity, they work for everyone. Everywhere. In any industry. Digitally or with paper. Whether you like them or not.
They work.
I will share practical things you can do to make these principles part of your everyday life.
