It’s that time of the year again when over-extended consumers have to brace themselves for an annual medical aid increase.
Something to consider…
When comparing the increases on Fedhealth’s flexiFED options to comparable options on other schemes, it’s important to note that Fedhealth has not cut any benefits or limits for the coming benefit year.
And, thanks to the flexible nature of the flexiFED range and the GRID and Elect variants, as Fedhealth members, your employees can control what their increase, or even decrease, for 2021 will be.
Choosing a GRID or Elect (hospital network) option
On Fedhealth your employees can opt for a GRID or Elect variant on the flexiFED range and by doing so, enjoy the exact same level of cover, but with an 11 and 25% discount respectively. This alone effectively cancels out the increase, or they could potentially even spend less on medical aid next year, for the exact same benefits.
Keep in mind that the only difference between GRID and the ‘Any-Hospital’ variant is that the member must use one of the private hospitals on our network for hospitalisation. With more than 100 top-class private hospitals on the list, it is likely for one to be close to your employees and therefore there’s no reason not to save 11% on their medical aid contributions in 2021.
The only difference between Elect and our ‘Any-Hospital’ variant is that members will have a R12 500 co-payment on elective procedures. This co-payment does not apply to admissions to Elect hospitals OR emergencies and accidents – those are still covered at any private hospital without a co-payment.
Using the MediVault
With the added control of Fedhealth’s MediVault and Wallet system, where your employees only pay for the day-to-day benefits they use, one possibility is to just use their MediVault more prudently to tighten up on their total medical aid spend.
For 2021, we’ve also introduced a FLEXIBLE or FIXED repayment structure on the MediVault. If your employees choose the FLEXIBLE structure, they can choose to use as little or as much of their MediVault as they prefer: they will only pay back what they use – interest-free, over 12 months. By opting to use nothing at all, their options essentially become hospital plans – a great way to save money, but with the peace of mind that they do have day-to-day funds available at any time should they need them.
Our FIXED repayment structure is for members who prefer more predictability around the day-to-day funds they have available and what they have to pay every month. This works exactly the same as any medical aid plan with a Medical Savings Accounts (MSA) – and means no admin for the member.
Customisation is the way of the future. In a world where so many factors are beyond our control, Fedhealth is proud to offer a product utterly unique to the South African market. Whatever matters most to your employees, be it control, simplicity or affordability, as it is for most people, the flexiFED range delivers and exceeds these individual demands.
