We all need a break from the daily grind sometimes. If you’re a company leader, think about what you can do to give your staff a little refresher that they deserve. How about taking them on an excursion?
If you live in New England, you are surrounded by living history on all sides. Take advantage of it by getting your staff together and taking them around the sites. You don’t have to be an international tourist to appreciate historical landmarks, after all.
Be sure to get the right transportation
Whenever you’re going, it’s first of all important to get reliable transportation. Whether you’re coming from Boston Logan International Airport, the train station, or another arrival point, you want to find the right transportation to suit your group.
Whether it be a private minibus rental or another Boston bus rental, getting a suitable vehicle for your group is the first step towards having a great excursion with your team. Check out BCS Bus Charter Rental Boston for some great deals on charter buses and minibuses. If you’re going to do Bean Town, be sure to do it right. And that starts with the right transportation.
Things to see and do in Boston
Freedom Trail
If you’re doing a tour of the area, you can’t miss the historical brick-lined Freedom Trail. Winding through 2.5 miles of major landmarks, you’ll experience more history on this short walk than you would in a whole week in many other places. Pass by museums, churches, and other landmarks that tell the stories of some of the most critical moments in US history.
Fenway Park
When you think of Boston, one of the first things that surely comes to mind is the Red Sox. Going to a game is arguably the quintessential Boston experience.
So get your group tickets, don your caps and grab some hot dogs. Win or lose, Red Sox games never disappoint with their spirit and in the joy of experiencing America’s national sport first-hand.
New England Aquarium
Another not-to-be-missed site in the area is the New England Aquarium. With over 1 million visitors a year, the aquarium features seals, sea lions, penguins, and a huge variety of fish from all over the world.
Famous Boston Libraries
Both the Boston Public Library and the John F Kennedy Presidential Library are well worth visiting. The Boston Public Library was the first municipal library in the nation, having opened in 1848. It is the third largest in the US, consisting of over 24 million items. It is also known for its spectacular architecture, tapestries, and paintings.
The John F Kennedy Presidential Library is, of course, the library and museum dedicated to America’s 35th president. The library will take you and your group through the extraordinary life of the youngest person to hold the nation’s highest office, his achievements as president, and of course his tragic death.
Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum
One of the few pivotal events in American history that people globally can recognize by name is the Boston Tea Party. Take your team aboard the ship that famously saw tea symbolically thrown into the harbor in protest of unrightful British taxation. The museum includes live reenactments, multimedia exhibits, and – of course – a tearoom.
Boston Common
Known as the oldest public park in the US, Boston Common dates back to 1634, even before the founding of the US. Take a stroll en route to one or more of your other destinations, stop for lunch, or plan some activities in the park. It is well worth seeing.
Samuel Adams Brewery
If you have beer lovers on your team, you might check out the brewery named after one of the US’s most famous revolutionary leaders. The famous brewery offers tours, beer tastings, and has a gift shop where you can grab some souvenirs.
Don’t forget to eat!
Boston has several staple dishes that you have to try while you’re there. Don’t miss out on the famous Boston baked beans, clam chowder, and Boston cream pie. And if you have an interest in cocktails, try a “Ward Eight,” Boston’s answer to the Manhattan.
Make it a day (or a weekend!) to remember
Boston is a popular place, so be sure to plan out your excursions and buy all your tickets well in advance of your trip. Red Sox tickets in particular tend to sell like hot cakes, so the sooner you get them, the better. Have a fantastic trip!
